Tribute
To all of you at Inside Out, I was moved to many tears when I read some of you tributes to dad. I will eventually read the rest. For those of you who don’t receive the “Purple Paper”, his newsletter, this is the tribute I wrote to the “purplepaperers”. It does very little to express my love and admiration for the man. Even now I am in grave danger from electrocution if I lean over the keyboard (tears). I hope this will bless you and ask for your prayers as I attempt to take the servant leader role with Papa’s Pipeline, if God so wills, in the near future.
I believe that Abraham Lincoln said that a tree was best measure for its height only after it was cut down. Back in those days they did not have the laser sights and assorted other high tech gizmos. If you truly wanted to see exactly how tall a tree was, the easiest way to do that was to cut it down and get an exact measurement.
We may never know exactly how much of an impact that any one of us may leave on this old earth. For some it may be likened to a footprint in the sand which is an exact copy of our foot and is there for all to see, but is as lasting as a sneeze. For with the next wave to break upon the shore it is gone.
On the other hand we can be as a time capsule placed in the cornerstone of a building, to be opened some time in the distant future. Being faithful to be about our Fathers business as long as we have breath and then leave the rest in His hands. Dad, Jerry, was not perfect by any stretch, BUT, he truly displayed a servants heart, faithfulness under stress and an a desire to be found reaching out to the world for his Savior until his death. This he did as perfectly as I know it can be done.
Only in the final tally of eternity will we know how much of an impact that dad had in de-populating hell. After all, that should be the goal of all of us. I am richly blessed to have had him for a father and am blessed that he married Pat after Joyce(first mom) died. I can only hope to continue to follow in his footsteps, even though his have been washed off the shore of this earth by death. I know that his life was selfless and focussed on the main thing. The main thing being, what reason will you give God that will allow Him to grant you access to His heaven? It all revolves around what you have done with His Son Jesus Christ and nothing else.
Your fellow servant in HIS service,
Tim Meyer
