Nehemiah 9:16-27
Sermon Highlights:
**The worst trouble we can get into, as Christians, is ignoring God.
**Here in Nehemiah we will see God’s faithfulness in the midst of their sin.
“How Do We Fall Into Sin?”
*Arrogance
Genesis 3:2-6 (NIV1984)
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” 4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
*Unequally Yoked
II Corinthians 6:14-15 (NLT)
14 Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? 15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil. How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?
*Bringing things into our homes that aren’t appropriate.
*Stiff necked and stubborn
Proverbs 28:14 (NLT)
“Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble.”
“What Can Keep Us From Falling Into Sin?”
**Remember to keep the Lord first. Remember what He has done for us.
Psalms 63:6-7 (NKJV)
6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. 7 Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
